Smoke haze covers the city of Painan, Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra -Afrizal/Disway Sumbar-

PENANUSA.id – The condition of the haze which has not subsided has prompted three regional governments in West Sumatra to again extend the Distance Learning (PJJ) policy. Padang City, Bukittinggi City and Agam Regency took this step in an effort to anticipate the negative impact of air quality on students.

The extension of learning activities from home was determined through a circular issued by each education and culture agency in the relevant region.

In Padang City, the Department of Education and Culture extended the implementation of PJJ for students at PAUD/TK, elementary school (SD), to junior high school (SMP). These provisions are stated in Circular Letter Number 400.3/192/DIKBUD-Pdg/X/2026.

Through this policy, distance learning will be implemented again from Monday, 19 October, to Wednesday, 21 October 2026. Previously, learning activities from home were implemented on 14–17 October 2026.

A similar policy is also being implemented by the Bukittinggi City Government. The extension of PJJ in the city is stated in Circular Letter Number 400.3.2/704/Disdikbud/2026.

Meanwhile, the Agam Regency Government has determined the extension of PJJ through Circular Letter Number 1367 of 2026. The implementation is scheduled to last for three days, namely from 19 to 21 October 2026.
