Deputy Minister of Tourism Reveals Strategy to Make Tourists Feel at Home in Indonesia, 52 Percent of Gen Z Traveling Looking for Experience
52 Percent of Gen Z Travelers Look for Experiences
Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said that the trend of experience-based tourism is increasingly visible, especially among young tourists.
In the study he presented at Indonesia Tourism & Mice Outlook 2027, around 52 percent of Gen Z tourists traveled to seek experiences.
"What we encourage is non-conventional, non-ordinary tourism, so that tourism activities can be spread more widely," said Ni Made.
According to Ni Made, the potential that each region already has can be combined into more attractive tourism activities.
Arts and culture, for example, can be combined with literature, marine tourism, and even walking tours. In this way, tourists have more choices of activities and do not only focus on popular tourist destinations.
This approach is also expected to spread tourism activities more widely so that economic benefits are not only concentrated in certain destinations.
